Leviatan Group supports access to education in Ukraine by donating a generator to a school in the Odessa Region
With access to energy, safety, and education in Ukraine still severely impacted by the war instigated by Russia, Leviatan Group is supporting efforts to sustain educational activities in the neighboring country, in collaboration with the New Strategy Center think tank, by donating a generator to a school in the village of Dmytrivka, Ismail District, Odessa Region.
As such, the MARRO generator set, model MYH 35 I, 33 kVA / 26 kW standby, donated by Leviatan Group, will help the school continue its operations amid constant pressure on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The school has a capacity of 960 pupils, and currently 250 children are enrolled here. Teachers provide education in both Romanian and Ukrainian; at each grade level, they teach classes in both languages, and students in Ukrainian-language classes also study Romanian.

“Russia is causing suffering at every turn in Ukraine, bombing cities and attempting to destroy the energy infrastructure. But the cold and darkness have not defeated Ukraine. From all over the world, Ukraine’s friends have provided the necessary aid. We are pleased that Leviatan Group, at the initiative of the New Strategy Center, is donating a generator to a school that has been affected by power outages. Children in the village of Dmitryvka, near Chilia in the Odessa Region, will be able to learn in better conditions thanks to the generosity of Leviatan Group. 250 children, many of them of Romanian ethnicity, now have a new opportunity. We are delighted to bring smiles to the children in Dmitryvka; the initiative is being implemented on the ground by New Strategy Center Ukraine. We are happy that this Easter, we are literally bringing light to these children,” said George Scutaru, CEO of New Strategy Center.

The initiative launched by the Leviatan Group comes at a time when international organizations are highlighting that attacks on energy infrastructure and disruptions to essential services are directly affecting the lives of children and the operation of schools in Ukraine.
In 2026, the UN reports that the humanitarian situation remains dire, and UNICEF notes that power and heating outages continue to limit children’s access to normal living and learning conditions. UNESCO, for its part, emphasizes the importance of strengthening schools’ resilience and maintaining educational continuity in communities affected by war.

“In Dmitryvka, 250 children are learning in Ukrainian and Romanian, in harmony and understanding. Everything was fine until the war began, until the first air raid sirens sounded and the first drones arrived. Every child wants to learn, but sometimes it is impossible due to power outages. With the help of Leviatan Group, the people of Dmitryvka can look forward to better conditions for their children at the school, which will have a new, high-performance generator. New Strategy Center Ukraine’s mission also includes strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Romania, as well as cross-border collaboration. Such concrete gestures demonstrate the solidarity of Romanians with the Ukrainian people, who this war has severely tested. “Evil cannot prevail if good people with big hearts unite and help Ukraine,” said Ecaterina Dadiverina, President of New Strategy Center Ukraine.
Access to a backup power source makes the difference between suspending classes and maintaining a modicum of normalcy in the daily lives of students and teachers. Ensuring a school’s operation means not only the continuity of educational activities but also the maintenance of a space essential to stability, routine, and safety in a community affected by uncertainty.

“We express our deep gratitude to Leviatan Group, New Strategy Center, and New Strategy Center Ukraine for the support provided to our school through the donation of the generator, and for doing everything possible to ensure that the children at the school in Dmitrivka can learn with a steady supply of light and heat. On behalf of everyone in the educational system, thank you for investing in our children’s future,” Lilia Markova, Principal of the School in the village of Dmytrivka.
When disruptions occur in community stability, supporting educational infrastructure directly invests in preserving normalcy and providing educational opportunities for children.

“In these difficult times, every concrete act of support means the world to communities in Ukraine. I am glad that, together with our partners, we were able to help bring this generator to the school in Dmitrivka, where children need not only safety but also normal conditions to continue their education. This initiative shows that solidarity among people, communities, and those who believe in the good can transcend any border and overcome any challenge. The support provided to this school means more than just technical assistance – it means care, responsibility, and hope. Thank you to Leviatan Group, New Strategy Center, and New Strategy Center Ukraine for making this gesture – so important for the children and families of Dmitrivka – possible,” said Archpriest Mihail Stegărescu, Dean of Ismail, Diocese of Southern Bessarabia, Romanian Patriarchate, and President of the “Melchisedec Ștefănescu” Cultural-Religious Association.
The business community’s responsibility does not stop at the boundaries of its own projects. Still, it extends to communities in need of real, immediate, and relevant support. Through this initiative, Leviatan Group reaffirms its commitment to supporting efforts that strengthen social resilience and ensure the continuity of education, even in the most challenging circumstances.
