Works on the first phase of the expansion and modernization of Câmpia Turzii Air Base, completed 25% ahead of schedule

The association formed by Leviatan Design and Ubitech Construcții, part of the Leviatan Group, together with Orange Romania, Petrodesign and subcontractor partners, have completed the project for the expansion and modernization of the air infrastructure at Câmpia Turzii, after completing the first phase works in record time, 25% ahead of schedule, reasserting the emphasis on responsibility and performance in projects, but especially in those of strategic importance, essential for the future of Romania.

The Câmpia Turzii Air Base currently allows the operation of F-16 multi-role airplanes. In the future, it will ensure the operation of F-35 aircraft, playing a strategic role for Romania. The realization of this complex military infrastructure project is, therefore, essential both for Romania’s security and for regional security. It is also very important in strengthening the operational capabilities of the Romanian and allied armed forces.

Fast-paced execution of works, essential for maximizing the value of investments in armament programs

The fast execution of the works at a high level of quality is vital for current and future endowment programs, which play an extremely important role in ensuring Romania’s security and truly capitalizing on our country’s investments in critical infrastructure.

Since December 2024, the project has entered the Internal Commissioning phase, and the continuation of the expansion and modernization works of the military base at the same pace is proving to be particularly important for implementing the rest of the project, considering the effort made by the Romanian Government to acquire F-35 aircraft.

Commitment to developing critical infrastructure in Romania

The dedication and responsibility of Leviatan Group’s team members, who understood the importance of the project, as well as the exceptional organization and technologies used, allowed the works to be executed in record time. Impressive quantities of construction materials were used in the realization of the project, such as 20,000 cubic meters of reinforced concrete, 67,000 cubic meters of road concrete, 100 km of pipes and pipelines, 1,000 tons of rolled steel, and 1,200 tons of steel concrete for concrete reinforcement in reinforced concrete elements and structures. Also, more than 700,000 cubic meters were excavated, and about 500,000 cubic meters of backfilling were used.

The Leviatan Group team remains dedicated to engaging in critical infrastructure projects in Romania and projects vital for our country’s development, including those in defense, health, and education, as well as maritime fields, which are included in the diversification strategy of the group of companies’ project portfolio.
