Leviatan Group and DriverAI set up Romania’s first quantum AI data center
DriverAI, an American technology company, proposed Romania’s first quantum AI data center and is developing it in partnership with Leviatan Group in the town of Luna, Cluj County. The investment, estimated at $1 billion in the first phase, marks a new milestone for the country’s technological and digital infrastructure and positions Romania on the European map of advanced computing infrastructures.
“The development of a Quantum Artificial Intelligence data center in Romania represents an important step for the national technological infrastructure. We are pleased to contribute, through Leviatan Group’s expertise and infrastructure, to a project with strategic potential for research, innovation, and digital transformation. Such investments can position Romania on the European map of advanced computing infrastructures,” said Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Group.
The data center will have a capacity of 80 MW. It will be developed in four phases within the industrial and technology park developed by the Leviatan Group. The project aims to integrate high-density GPU computing infrastructure with quantum computing hardware.
“Our assessment visits to Luna and to the industrial and technological park developed by Leviatan Group confirmed what the data already suggested: Romania is uniquely positioned to become a sovereign compute hub for Central and Eastern Europe. The proximity to leading universities, the energy infrastructure, and the commitment of our Romanian partners make this the right location, at the right moment. We are committed to advancing this initiative as a priority,” said Cary Tatlinger, CEO and founder of DriverAI.
